Swim, 4x4 in - acrylic
I love being involved with the creative process from start to finish. When inspiration hits, the process of finding props and a model begins. Fortunately I have painted my "Swim" model from life. This gave me valuable insight when setting up a photo shoot for this painting. I was smitten by her goggles and the fun expression they created. I painted a close up that captures the viewer's attention by creating movement and atmosphere through expressive brushwork.

There is something that happens when I truly lose myself in the joy of painting. Everything falls into place and all is right with the world, even if it is only for a brief space of time. Like adding ruffles and lace, painting embellishes my life!

All My Best

All My Best, 5x7 in - acrylic

In order to succeed at anything in this life, we must face the prospect of failure. Facing a white canvas can be a daunting experience, but regardless of success or failure, what an experience! Maude Adams says it so much better than I could.

"Life is so fresh, life is every day so new if we are fighting, only for the best. Sometimes I think the only real satisfaction in life is failure, failure in your endeavor to do your best." - Maude Adams

My Three Sisters

"We are three sisters
Three sisters are we
I love each of you,
And I know you love me
We're not always together,
Life sometimes keeps uo apart.
But we're never seperated
We're in each others heart.
Now I know we've had our troubles,
But we always get thru.
The real message is you love me,
And I also love you.
We have lots of good times that we'll never forget
Sometimes we worry
And sometimes we fret
But if God ever gave me
Something special you see,
It might have been the blessing of, Three sisters are we.
The Lord abouve has gave me lots
Of happiness and glee
But the most special thing he did was Make us sisters, all three."

"And I heard the sound of the wings..."

As you may have noticed from the last post, I have begun a new series I am excited about.
January is a difficult month for many. I attended the funeral of one of my dearest and best loved friends the beginning of this month four years ago. Working on this series though has already inspired me - I am hearing the sound of the wings and have been given the invitation to soar!
